Hi Wendy,
I appreciate you sharing your insights on nutrition and saddles with the NC Randonneurs group. I’m pretty new to randonneuring, though I have a long (40 years) base of road riding (50 to 100 mile one day rides). I’ll be doing the 400K next weekend out of Salisbury so I hope to meet you there (I think the 600K and 400K share the same route for the first section). I’m interested to know whether you have dealt with sore feet (hot spots or pain on the balls of your feet). This year’s NC 600K (Morrisville to Wilmington) was the first time I had a real foot issue (last 50 miles). I’m using Specialized BG MTB shoes with Candy C eggbeater pedals.
From your ride reports, I know I could not match your pace, but that is what I like about randonneuring – there’s room for such a wide range of abilities and the time limits are pretty generous.
